Peter Svennilson

Peter Svennilson has 23 years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, and venture capital. He was the founder and a partner of Three Crowns Capital, a leading backer of a new generation of US biotechnology companies. He helped found companies such as Rosetta, PTC, Tercica, and Somalogic. Over the past 12 years he has helped finance and develop biotech companies, including Tularik, Sunesis, Chemocentryx, Infinity, AVEO, Rinat, and FivePrime. He is currently a Board Director of NGM Biopharmaceuticals and Aragon Pharmaceuticals and has served on the Boards of Directors of several other biotechnology companies, including Rosetta, PTC, Somalogic, and ChemoCentryx. Before founding Three Crowns Capital, he was the Associate Managing Director of European Investment Banking Origination at Nomura Securities in London. He is currently a trustee for the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey.

Carl L. Gordon, PhD, CFA, is a founding General Partner of OrbiMed. He is active in both private equity and small-capitalization public equity investments. He was a senior biotechnology analyst at Mehta and Isaly from 1995 to 1997. He was a fellow at the Rockefeller University from 1993 to 1995. He received a PhD in molecular biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His doctoral work involved studies of protein folding and assembly. He received a bachelor's degree from Harvard College.

Brett Zbar, MD, serves as a Partner of Aisling Capital, a leading private equity firm that invests in life science companies developing biopharmaceutical products and creates businesses based on advanced life science technologies. He is active in investments in development-stage biopharmaceutical companies, as well as later-stage investments. Previously, he was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company and a senior member of the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Products practice. Before joining McKinsey, he trained on the Osler Internal Medicine Service at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He received an MD from Harvard Medical School and a BA from Yale College.

Richard Heyman, PhD

Richard A. Heyman, PhD, has 20 years of drug discovery experience in the biotech sector and, most recently, cofounded Aragon Pharmaceuticals in 2009. Previously, he was Chief Scientific Officer at Kalypsys, Inc., where he conducted drug discovery in therapeutic areas such as metabolic diseases, pain, and inflammation. In 1999, he cofounded and served as Chief Scientific Officer of X-Ceptor Therapeutics, a company that developed compounds targeting nuclear receptors for the treatment of metabolic diseases. X-Ceptor was acquired by Exelixis in 2004. Before X-Ceptor, he was Vice President of Research at Ligand Pharmaceuticals and was project leader for multiple discovery programs, including the successful identification and development of PanretinĀ® and TargretinĀ®, retinoids approved by the FDA for the treatment of cancer. He was an NIH postdoctoral fellow and staff scientist at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. He received a PhD in pharmacology from the University of Minnesota and a BS in chemistry from the University of Connecticut.
